A Letter From Division President - Br. Kamran Baig

The New Year has begun…with new hope and new aspirations we are now leading into the 3rd decade of SIO of India. SIO Mumbai plays a crucial role throughout India, we have a legacy of past experiences, of achievements and shortcomings, we have new avenues to explore new dimensions to cover. While we look back we have come a long way ahead, when we retrospect, we have faced the 3 decades of colossal challenges, guiding the students and keeping them consistent for 3 decades is truly the great achievements by help of almighty. The 3 decades also reminds us of the extreme rise of anti-Islam propaganda, the dawn of post-modern era, the global war on Islam and the rise of Islamophobia, the communalized environment in India…the inferiority complexes of our people…..we have truly come a long way..But the situation is taking turns and things seem to be normalizing…we have now entered into the decade where Islam and Movements of Islam is getting recognitions in the mainstream. We as Indian Islamist have to learn a great lesson from this global phenomenon…we have to again wait and ask “How do we really become a truly mainstream organization”…Living in this highly plural and diverse society what should be our real agenda as an Islamic movement, there are many questions we need to think…how do we really impact the mainstream thoughts, how do we really become a true “trend setter” in its truest sense…how do we really become an extrovert Organization…How do we really integrate with the mainstream…How do we really become the Organization of “An-naas” (3:110).
We have before us the best of cadre, we have witnessed the potential during our conferences and festivals…how do we really do their development is our greatest challenge and first priority. Throughout Mumbai only one voice was dominant during planning ...what we have for follow up. Well we have tried best to bring some good programs for follow up…The strategy is a twofold-1-to create maximum spacein our regulars and 2- to give it quality. Again a list of burden activity in the name of follow-ups is not a sensible idea. Units and circles need to understand this strategy, when we talk of increasing the spaces we mean that now for e.g. instead of 1 VIC we have 3 which is given to units, the SIC targets should go up, the membership and SIO school aspirants targets are increased, the Dawah workshop and campus orienatation work shop targets have increased substantially. In order to make breakthrough in Campuses many new models have been introduced and even the Center is giving more Campus flexible plans. Lets all but our best and really create a new chapter in this term.
To all my divisional secretaries I say only one thing that you all are the real pillars of Division, each of you have an onerous task assigned, if u fail anywhere its our overall failure, I humbly request you all to put your best efforts and always keep in front our yearly planner and calendar in your sight. Don’t wait for anyone to remind you about your planned things, just be proactive, do micro planning and go ahead…we are with you. Also while working with Mumbai team you will meet various people, people will admire you, your fame may increase and you will learn many things from this platform….but never forget that all this is only because of this organization’s platform, when you become a great man in future do not forget that it was this tehreek which introduced you to people, many people in the past used SIO Mumbai divisional platform and later ran after fame-seeking and their own vested interests….I remind you in the strongest sense Beware and don’t get into this trap of Shaitan.
To all the Lp’s and Co’s I would remind them that you are the real players….believe me all the planning’s from CAC, ZAC, DAC…at every level has been planned to be implemented in the units and circles which are under you. You have to play a very proactive role, keep your planning in view and try to give balance to all activities. Do not overburden yourselves with extra unplanned things, but try to give best to all the planned things. The SIO structure and orientation of planning is getting more federal day by day, you will observe that most of the big activities have come down to units, so here is a more challenge for you.
Remember that your Dp is a human being and is not an angel and above criticism, whenever you feel things are not going fine do call me directly, if you have suggestions do share it immediately .We have to work as a team as “Bunyanum marsoos”…..Remember that SIO is a place where we can do as much experiments we can, new ideas, out of the box thinking should be in our attitude, we have been given maximum independence we want.. The sole mission statement of SIO is preparing the students and youths for ulterior motives of the movement…so I will like to remind you that in your daily endeavors do not forget your own selves…do plan and make your own visions, try to equip yourself with the skills required to face the challenges of this age. I have seen many people who after a long period eventually become slack and frustrated, perplexed and ever doubting the changes and decisions of the organizations, they are adamant to change and even create obstacles, the reason is most of the time is that they did not equip themselves with the necessary amount of knowledge and information required. So if you all want to work for a long time with the movement then “Equip yourself” today. Tazkiya is a two fold process; the one side is about purification of thoughts and beliefs and its other dimension deals with development and ultimately reaching the “heights of perfection” (ihsaan or Kamaal).
Again reminding you that our sole ideology and soul is embodied in the Qur’an and Sunnah, keep it always in your view, make earnest efforts to become a “unique Qur’anic generation”.....To all the successes I owe it only to Allah swt and your pure humble efforts. O Allah swt Let our attitude after all success be “fa sab bih..bi hamdi rabbika was tag fir….”
Salaams and Regards

Mumbai (5.02.12): 12th Rabiul Awal (Islamic month) is celebrated as Prophet Muhammad (SAW) birthday. SIO although round the year spreads the message of Islam by corner meetings and Quran stalls at various stations of Mumbai, SIO Kurla Unit specially arranged a "DAWAH" stall near Kurla railway station with purpose to spread the teachings of Mohammad (SAWS) as ultimate massage of Islam to mankind. Where hundreds of visitors understood the massage of Islam by our volunteers, 2000 took the biography of Mohammad (SAWS) and 300 took other book based on teachings of Islam. English, Marathi and Hindi translated Qur'an were also distributed to the masses.
All the volunteers got motivation too.

Your Pearls of Wisdom
Success breeds success
There was a farmer who grew superior quality, award-winning corn in his farm. Each year, he entered his corn in the state fair where it won honors & prizes.
One year a newspaper reporter interviewed him and learned something interesting about how he grew his corn. The reporter discovered that the farmer shared his seed corn with his neighbors.
"How can you afford to share your best seed corn with your neighbors when they are entering corn in competition with
yours each year?" The reporter asked. "Why brother"
'' The farmer replied, "Didn't you know? The wind picks up pollen grains from the ripening corn and swirls it from field to field.
If my neighbors grow inferior, sub-standard & poor quality corn, cross-pollination will steadily degrade the quality of my corn. If I have to grow good corn, I must help my neighbors to grow good corns."
The farmer gave a superb insight into the connectedness of life. His corn cannot improve unless his neighbors' corn also improves. So it is in the other dimensions and areas of life!
Those who choose to be in harmony must help their neighbors and colleagues to be at peace.
Those who choose to live well must help others live well. The value of a life is measured by the lives it touches...
Success does not happen in isolation; it is most often a participatory and collective process. So share the good practices, ideas and new knowledge with your family, friends, team members and neighbors & all.
